Facebook Ads vs Google Ads For Epoxy Contractors
Which paid channel produces cheaper booked estimates for floor coating businesses, and why most contractors should run both.

The two channels do fundamentally different jobs, which is why comparing them on cost per lead alone leads contractors to the wrong conclusion. Google captures demand that already exists. Facebook and Instagram create demand that did not exist an hour ago. A coating business needs both, but rarely in equal measure and rarely at the same stage of growth.
Google Search reaches homeowners typing 'garage floor coating near me' at the moment they have decided to hire someone. Intent is as high as it gets, clicks cost $8 to $25 in most metros, and the resulting leads close quickly. The constraint is volume, in a mid-sized market there may only be a few hundred relevant searches a month, which caps how much you can scale even with an unlimited budget.
Meta works the other way. Nobody scrolling Instagram was looking for a floor, but a before-and-after of a stained oil-spotted slab turning into a showroom-grade flake floor stops the scroll. Volume is effectively unlimited within your radius, cost per lead is usually lower than search, and intent starts lower, which is exactly why the qualification step matters so much on this channel.

The practical mistake contractors make on Meta is optimizing for cheap form fills. Cheap leads are easy to buy and expensive to service. Optimize the campaign toward qualified appointments instead, put a real qualification form between the ad and the calendar, and accept a higher cost per lead in exchange for a lower cost per installed job.
For most epoxy businesses the sensible split is roughly 70% of budget to Meta for volume and 30% to Google for high-intent capture, with a branded search campaign running cheaply in the background so competitors cannot buy clicks on your own name. Review the split every quarter against cost per installed job, not cost per click.
Whichever channel you lean on, the deciding factor is what happens in the five minutes after a lead comes in. Speed of contact and a confirmed appointment beat clever targeting every single time.
